Hannah and I met at NYU in a Microeconomics 101 lecture. One early morning in January, 2018, Hannah was late to class. She usually sat in the front row of the giant and anonymous auditorium, but this time coincidentally sat next to me 7 rows back. We were all just trying to get through the morning lecture.
The professor made a pop-culture reference. Hannah, laughing, turns to me and asks, “Did you get it?”
I really did not get it. Nor did I understand what was going on. But we started talking, which led to grabbing coffee, which led to study dates, which led to hanging out. We became close friends and supported each other.
Hannah asked me out in early November, 2018. We explored our city, traveled internationally, studied together, and each day fell a bit more in love.
We graduated…
and started our life in NYC, the city we fell in love in. We've got jobs, made new friends, started new hobbies, and created a home with our two cats Roxie and Daisy.
On January 27th, 2023, we got engaged!
There was never any doubt. Hannah and I had been building our lives together brick by brick and I knew that I could not imagine any other future - we were in love and we were the best team. After taking Hannah out on a date to see the Firebird ballet at the MET, we snuck back up to our rooftop. It was there, with the city that molded us as witness, the rooftops of the Empire State, the Chrysler, the World Trade present - I proposed to Hannah.
We have so far been fortunate to celebrate it with so many!
Spoiler alert: She said yes!
